Skipped MSE 205 today… again.

Skipped MSE 205 today… again. I really hope I’m not getting myself into trouble here, but its really hard to get motivated to go to a 200 level course as a fifth year senior. Especially when skipping it leaves you with nothing to do until 2:30 in the afternoon. There, I feel sufficiently self justified. In addition to skipping class, I’m not getting anything done at work due to this. Who knew a 404 error page could be so addictive?

Yesterday I finally picked up

Yesterday I finally picked up Low tickets for the show at the Wexner Center this Thursday. Bring on the rock! (very very slowly). Meanwhile, tonight I’m having dinner courtesy of Harris, one of the companies I interviewed with earlier. I’m not exactly sure what to expect from that, but I sure couldn’t pass up a free meal. I can only assume that they’re somewhat interested in me if they’re taking me out to dinner, but I hope they don’t expect me to put out. I’m just not that kind of software engineer. Jumping back to Friday to further mess with the chronology of this post, I had a follow-up phone interview with Evans & Sutherland that I felt went really well. I could always be wrong, but I think I’ll be hearing from them again soon.

I got my first odd/disturbing

I got my first odd/disturbing search request hit yesterday. Apparently I’m the fourth most popular site for ram+skull+forward. I can’t really say why they thought my site had what they were looking for, since the excerpt on Google showed that the ram I was talking about was RAM. Oh well. Hooray for internet weirdery! Posted it to Disturbing Search Requests.

I just fell in love

I just fell in love with the CPAN (Comprehensive Perl Archive Network). Seriously. If it were a girl, I would marry it. I may anyway. Its got Perl modules to handle just about any job imaginable. For example, I took the Net::AIM module, and the Chatbot::Eliza module, stuck them together with a few lines of code and came up with BlastrBot2. I’ll leave him on AIM from time to time, so drop him a line if you see him on. Just don’t talk to him too fast, he really hates that and he’s not afraid to let you know. I plan on eventually changing him from a mindless chatbot to a semi-useful tool some time in the near future, just as soon as I figure out what that tool should be. Suggestions?

Success! It actually ended

Success! It actually ended up being much easier than I thought it would be to produce the sombrero function from yesterday. What do you mean it doesn’t look like a sombrero? It kind of does, at least around the middle, maybe. A little. Don’t blame me, I didn’t do the math I just modeled it. If I have time I think I might go back and see what other height field images I can produce.

Hmm… didn’t seem to work

Hmm… didn’t seem to work quite like I expected. Never send a bot to do a man’s work I suppose.

Ok, if this works I’ll

Ok, if this works I’ll be beside myself with geekish glee. I’m trying to post via http://www.fibiger.org/bloggerbot“>BlogBot, using AIM. Yes, I know I’m a dork. Yes, it certainly seems insecure. But I still had to try it because, well, you know… geek and stuff.

The Standard Procedural Database is

The Standard Procedural Database is certainly fun, though I’d probably appreciate it more if I weren’t in a little over my head trying to figure out how to modify the sombrero function (which does what you think: it produces an output model that resembles a sombrero) to produce output that works with my CIS 781 lab. By midnight. It should probably be easy if everything works like I think it does, but that’s never the case.

Aaaaaargh! Should anyone like to

Aaaaaargh! Should anyone like to offer any suggestions as to what I’m doing wrong in my polygon clipping and backface elimination algorithms within the next 2 hours and 24 minutes it would be greatly appreciated.
